극동대학교, 유학생 대상 '한국 생활 안전 가이드' 특별 강의 열어
유학생 대상 안전한 한국 생활 지원 교육으로 큰 호응
극동대학교(총장 류기일)는 26일 유학생들의 안전한 한국 생활을 지원하기 위해 음성경찰서 김태연 팀장을 초청, 특별 강의를 진행했다.
이번 강의는 '한국 생활 안전 가이드'를 주제로 열렸으며, 300여 명의 유학생이 참석해 높은 관심을 보였다.
김태연 팀장은 사기, 절도, 폭행, 성범죄, 스미싱 등 다양한 범죄 유형을 설명하며 유학생들이 한국에서 마주할 수 있는 위험 요소와 그에 대한 예방 및 대응 방법을 구체적으로 안내했다. 특히, 긴급 상황 시 도움을 요청하는 절차와 범죄 예방을 위한 실질적인 팁이 큰 호응을 얻었다.
강의에 참석한 한 유학생은 "일상생활에서 법적 시스템과 문화적 차이를 잘 몰라 당황한 적이 많았는데, 이번 강의를 통해 실제로 적용 가능한 정보를 배울 수 있었다"며 "앞으로 한국 생활이 더욱 안전하고 자신감 있게 느껴질 것 같다"고 말했다.
극동대학교 인권센터 관계자는 "유학생들이 한국에서 겪을 수 있는 다양한 상황에 대비할 수 있도록 실질적인 도움을 제공하기 위해 이번 강의를 기획했다"며 "앞으로도 유학생들을 위한 맞춤형 지원과 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대할 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
이번 특별 강의는 극동대학교가 유학생들의 권익 보호와 안전한 학업 환경 조성을 위해 지역사회와 협력해 진행한 프로그램 중 하나로, 유학생들의 한국 생활 적응을 돕는 중요한 계기가 되었다.

Education Program for Supporting Safe Living in Korea Receives Positive Feedback
Far East University (President Lyu Kee-il) held a special lecture on November 26 to support international students in leading safe and informed lives in Korea. The event featured a guest speaker, Team Leader Kim Tae-yeon from the Eumseong Police Department.
Titled “Safety Guide for Life in Korea,” the lecture attracted over 300 international students, highlighting significant interest in the topic.
Kim Tae-yeon addressed various crime scenarios, including fraud, theft, assault, sexual violence, digital sexual crimes, and smishing. He provided detailed explanations on potential risks international students may face while living in Korea and practical strategies to prevent and respond to these situations. Notably, the guidance on emergency reporting procedures and crime prevention tips received enthusiastic responses from attendees.
One international student shared their experience, saying, "I have often felt confused due to differences in legal systems and cultural practices, but this lecture gave me practical knowledge I can apply in my daily life. I now feel more confident about living safely in Korea."
A representative from the university’s Human Rights Center stated, "We organized this lecture to provide international students with practical support to help them navigate potential challenges in Korea. We plan to continue expanding customized programs and support for international students."
This special lecture is part of Far East University's ongoing efforts to protect the rights of international students and foster a safe academic environment. By collaborating with the local community, the university aims to offer essential information and enhance the adaptability of international students to life in Korea.
